Northtown Mall Book Fair

Saturday, August 17, 2024

Northtown Mall delivered on all of their promises on Saturday, but alas, very few people came to peruse the books. I did, however, meet a number of local authors and got to talk about what they write. And even better, I got to catch up with a former student who now works in the education field.

Twin Cities Pride Festival

Saturday June 29 and Sunday June 30

I was given the opportunity to be part of the Queer Writes tent at the Pride Festival. A great bunch of people and writings of all types: poetry, graphic novels, sci-fi, fantasy.

We brought 56 books with us and sold EVERY SINGLE ONE!

So many nice people came by, including current and past students. I wasn’t able to get a picture with all of them, but I tried.

Thanks to everyone who came out to see me at Pride! I hope you enjoy the book!

Beagle and Wolf Author Fest

June 15, 2024

The annual Minnesota author event took place at the American Legion in Park Rapids, sponsored by the Beagle and Wolf Books & Bindery.

Twenty-three local authors were on hand to sell their books.

Unfortunately, the beautiful weather kept the majority of our visitors outside. I was lucky enough to have a few friends come by. I feel lucky that I’ve had visitors at every event so far.

Roseville Library

Saturday, June 1, 2024

For Ramsey County Library’s LGBTQA Pride event on June 1, I was invited to be the guest author/speaker for my book about trans-teen Kinkade, Out of Blue Comes Green. Librarian and awesome-person Alyssa Stevenski interviewed me about my book, my writing habits, my life. It was so nice to have so many people show up, and to have them ask questions. I sold a few books. I signed a few books. All in all, another fantastic experience. THANK YOU, ALYSSA and Ramsey County Library! And thank you to Anna Smithberger for getting me connected for this great opportunity!

Barnes & Noble Uptown
Saturday, April 27, 2024

Barnes and Noble Uptown hosted me on April 27 for a book signing. Many of my friends who hadn’t made it to the Red Balloon showed up here, including my high school friend Keiko Welch Mello, whom I was NOT expecting. Keiko is one of the main influences for my character Libby in Out of Blue Comes Green. Keiko played drums in high school, and we often practiced in her basement.

Central Iowa Trans Lives Festival March 30, 2024

The Central Iowa Trans Lives Festival was fantastic. My wife and I went there to raise interest and awareness of Out of Blue Comes Green, and we were met with such a great response from everyone. All of the ARCs and postcards we brought were gone just after 12:00. I hope that means that people are truly interested and not just after free stuff. My hope for the book is that it makes it into the hands of the kids who need it. Trans-kids who have never read a book where they have seen a character like them deserve to have that experience.

Red Balloon Book Launch Tuesday, April 23, 2024

Last night at the Red Balloon was amazing! So many wonderful people came for the Book Launch of Out of Blue Comes Green. Red Ballooner Claire and I did a Q & A about the book, my writing process, my writing journey, and I read a two-page excerpt. Guests were welcome to cookies, brownies, and some Blue merch: bookmarks, stickers, and guitar picks. Thanks to everyone who came and made the event a success, and a special thanks to the Red Balloon!
