About M. E. Corey

Writing songs was my first love with the intention of becoming a singer with a band of my own. I have written hundreds of songs, most in the key of A-minor and most about unrequited love. Though I’d hoped to be a lead guitarist, sadly my talents did not pass rhythm guitarist.

Writing novels takes up my song writing time these days. I have written about dozens of characters, but only a few of them have been in a completed story. Out of Blue Comes Green is my favorite of my books.

If there’s anything I love more than writing, it would be my dogs. Dogs are pure love.

Norway

Mythological death and afterlife beliefs fascinate me. I had the opportunity to visit the Viking Ship Museum in Norway and see the Oseberg Viking ship, discovered in a large burial mound in Sweden.

On the same trip, my wife and I saw our favorite band a-ha. We’ve been fans of their music since 1986 and have all of their albums. My favorite is 2000’s Minor Earth, Major Sky.  The title for Out of Blue Comes Green comes from an a-ha song from their 1988 album Stay on These Roads.

England

Lacock Abbey in Wiltshire, England, is where some of the hallway scenes in the Harry Potter movies were filmed. While I no longer can be a fan of the author, I have a difficult time dismissing Harry Potter overall.

Japan

The torii gates at the Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto are amazing and massive. The ten thousand torii gates at this Shinto shrine are found along the 233 meter path up Mount Inari, named for the patron god of rice, sword smiths, and general prosperity. Inari is genderless.

Costa Rica

For the winter holiday, we visited Costa Rica and stopped at San Rafael Church to walk through the Evangelista topiary garden. The shrubs were great! These, which were off the beaten path, had gorgeous twisted branches. The regular shrubs had a distinct odor to them that cannot be described as pleasant.
